Glastonbury Tor Parking

Tor's Tourist Trail

Parking Advice

You Can't Park Here

The title of this page will be very familiar to anyone who has driven towards Glastonbury Tor, followed the signs for parking, and then driven in ever-decreasing circles in complete frustration, before either giving up or simply parking wherever they can find space and hoping for the best.

It needs to be understood right from the start that there is no parking anywhere near the top of the Tor. The Tor is a prominent hill with a 15th-century tower and a spiritual site. As such it is visited by thousands of tourists every year, nearly all of whom arrive by car. But the lanes leading up the Tor are narrow and winding, and there is simply no space for a car park. In other words, best to park in town.

If you follow the signs to the park and ride you will be taken to St Dunstans Car Park BA6 9EH.. From here you can catch the bus to the Tor, or walk if you prefer. The walk takes about 30 minutes and is quite steep in places, but it is a pleasant walk and the views from the top are worth the effort.

So, to recap, if you are planning to visit Glastonbury Tor, please park in town and either walk or catch the bus to the top. You will find it much easier than trying to park near the top, and you will also avoid getting a parking ticket..
